Federal regulations require at least 12 hours’ advance notice for a bridge opening. Port staff will acknowledge your request as soon as reasonably practicable. Vessels should arrive at the requested lift time within a 30-minute margin.

Under 33 CFR §117.11, vessel operators must lower all lowerable, nonstructural vessel appurtenances that are not essential to navigation when doing so allows the vessel to safely pass beneath the bridge in the closed position.

• Max vertical clearance when lift span is closed: 67 feet (20.42 meters) at average river height of 74.75
• Max vertical clearance when lift span is open: 148 feet (45 meters)
• Horizontal clearance of the lift span is 246 feet (75 meters)
