Bridgette has an important rescue mission this afternoon. 

The Hood River–White Salmon Bridge will temporarily close today, August 7, at 4:00 p.m. for up to approximately ​30 minutes​ so a young osprey can be safely returned to its nest. The bridge will reopen as soon as the rescue is complete.

Earlier this week, the baby osprey fell from its nest and has since been receiving treatment for lead poisoning. Wildlife experts have determined that its best chance for survival is to be returned to its nest as soon as possible.

We know a closure at this time of day will be a major inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while crews help give this young osprey the best chance to survive and return home.
