June 21

There will be a full height lift of the span in the early morning of Tuesday, June 21 starting at 4:30 a.m. for repairs to the span lock and subsequent lift and placement of the engineering crew and their gear required to perform the inspection of the wire ropes and counterweights. This lift will be 30-60 minutes in duration. Motorists should seek alternate routes between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Following this work there will be up to four shorter duration lifts occurring throughout the day on Tuesday, June 21 as the work requires. Bridge users should expect delays of up to 30 minutes during the lifts, depending on traffic volume.

June 22

On Wednesday, June 22 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. survey and work crews will be on the bridge making preparations for the 72 hour closure coming later in the week. There will be single lane closures with flaggers directing traffic around the moving work zone.

June 23

There will be single lane closures on the Hood River-White Salmon bridge starting at 9:00 a.m. as Port crews work to repair new potholes in preparation for the approach ramp work. Flaggers will direct traffic around the moving work zone until the work is complete.

June 24-26

Later in the week, the bridge will be closed to all traffic for a 72-hour period beginning at 12:01 a.m. the morning of Friday, June 24 through 11:59 p.m. the night of Sunday, June 26. During this total closure, crews from Granite Construction will repave the Oregon and Washington approach ramps. The work will include roughening the surfaces, applying an emulsion and a rubber membrane, and finally a 1.5” asphalt surface. The closure was originally scheduled to take place June 10-12 but was rescheduled due to rain.
