HOOD RIVER, Ore. (July 30, 2026) — The Hood River–White Salmon Bridge Authority has requested overnight closures of the Hood River–White Salmon Bridge to support geotechnical exploration near the Washington shoreline for the Bridge Replacement Project.

The closures are needed to safely lower drilling equipment from the existing bridge, perform the exploration work and retrieve the equipment. The work will follow an approved and validated process designed to avoid damage to the existing bridge.

The bridge is scheduled to close from 11:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. during the following windows:

• August 17–19, with the final closure ending at 5:00 a.m. August 20
• August 26–27, with the final closure ending at 5:00 a.m. August 28
• August 31–September 3, with the final closure ending at 5:00 a.m. September 4
• September 8–10, with the final closure ending at 5:00 a.m. September 11

The equipment-lowering and retrieval work may be completed in fewer nights. Multiple closure windows have been scheduled in case the work cannot be completed during the initial closures. Updates will be provided if any scheduled closures are no longer needed.

Travelers should plan ahead and use an alternate route during the closure hours.
