Bridge

Welders
  • Beginning July 2026, all toll revenue collected on the Hood River-White Salmon Interstate Bridge will be dedicated to bridge maintenance and repair, and bridge replacement funds only.
  • To streamline traffic flow, the north and south bound lanes on the Oregon side of the bridge were reopened at the direction of the Port Commission. New signage was installed in April of 2026, giving clear direction to those commuting across the bridge about the fully electronic tolling system.
  • Annual deck welding was completed in May, with a new tracking system put in place for future welding projects. Port facilities crew numbered the deck grates (604 total) along with the lift grates to help track future repairs, maintenance and traffic concerns.

Waterfront

  • The Port continues to apply for grants to fund the Waterfront Transportation Improvement project, which includes creating a roundabout (Phase 1) and realigning First Street (Phase 2). This project is key to the future development and transportation improvements along the waterfront.
  • A Marina Basin survey was completed in December of 2025. The survey gave community members a chance to voice their thoughts on the future of the Marina. The Port Commissioners and Staff would like to thank all those who responded, as public input is a cornerstone of Port projects and vision.

Airport

  • Construction is underway on the south apron T-Hangars at the Ken Jernstedt Airport, with a target completion date of July 2026. Ten new T-Hangars will be constructed with improvements along the taxilane.
  • Work continues on the Jeanette Road/North Apron project which includes grading, paving, striping and installing emergency access gates. This project will support future hangar developments and land lease opportunities.

Industrial

  • The Port has created a Capital Projects Fund intended to improve financial planning and transparency by setting aside funds annually for future capital needs, such as roof replacements and building upgrades.
  • The Port has acquired 200 Wasco Loop as a potential new site for Port administrative offices. When construction begins on bridge replacement, the Port offices will need to relocate, and this sale secures a future office site.
