Three seats on the Port of Hood River Commission were on the ballot for the spring 2025 Special District Election. Consisting of five elected positions, the Commission represents the entire Port district, each seat holding a term for 4 years. Commissioners meet monthly to discuss Port projects, purpose and vision. In 2025, Positions 1, 2, and 3 were on the ballot and 25.81% of voters took to the polls to elect three Port Commissioners. Current Commissioner Ben Sheppard ran unopposed for Position 1 and will serve his third four-year term beginning July 1. Position 2 will be held by current Commissioner Heather Gehring who won her race with 53.74% of the votes. Commissioner Mike Fox did not seek re-election, and his seat at Position 3 was won by Kathryn Thomas, with 73.92% of voters. The newly elected officials will take their seats beginning July 1st 2025, with terms running through June 30, 2029. All three were sworn in at the Port offices on July 7. Congratulations to Commissioners Sheppard and Gehring, and the Port is excited to welcome Kathryn Thomas as Port Commissioner beginning July 1, 2025.
