The Port of Hood River is excited to introduce Emily Curtis as the new Capital Projects  and Operations Coordinator. Born and raised in Parkdale, Emily is excited to join the Port team and make a positive impact in her local government. After graduating from Hood River Valley High School, Emily studied Civil Engineering at Linn Benton and OSU, graduating in 2024 and returning to the valley she loves. The Port is proud to support local talent and provide opportunities for young professionals to build careers in the communities where they grew up.

Always hoping for a role that focused on project management, Emily is thrilled about her new position at the Port, finding the variety of tasks a fun challenge; from handling moorage tenants and concessionaires to helping with Capital Projects, each day is different than the last. Diving into a varied workload, Emily is grateful for the staff at the Port, finding them to be “so kind and collaborative.”

Emily brings a spirit of service to the Port, spending her free time making a big impact on local youth as the head Volleyball coach for HRVHS. An athlete throughout high school and college, this will be her second year coaching volleyball in the gorge. Through coaching, Emily enjoys helping young athletes develop confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills both on and off the court.

When she’s not working or coaching, Emily enjoys hiking the gorge, her favorite trail being White River Falls. And after a good hike, you can find her grabbing a bite at Solera, her favorite restaurant.
