Winter 2025 Newsletter - Passport and ParkMobile come to Port Parking Areas

The Port of Hood River is improving its paid parking program to make parking more convenient for waterfront visitors. This update comes directly from Commission direction and public feedback requesting a simpler, more consistent experience across the waterfront and downtown Hood River area. Users can pay for their parking just as they would when parking downtown, only there will be parking zone numbers specifically for Port parking areas. Importantly, hourly and daily parking rates will remain unchanged. Parkers will continue to have access to a pay-to-text, providing flexibility for those who prefer not to download an app.

In October, Port Commissioners approved switching to the same two paid parking apps as the City of Hood River – Passport and ParkMobile. Passport and ParkMobile will replace the Port’s current Flowbird app. Waterfront visitors will see this change by Spring 2026 and it means that people parking will no longer need separate apps for City and Port parking areas. Behind the scenes, the Port will also begin using Passport for the citation management and enforcement systems to make backend operations more efficient and reduce administrative costs. All parking revenue collected by the Port of Hood River is allocated to the maintenance and upkeep of its waterfront park properties. This decision and update reflect the Port Commission’s leadership and responsiveness to community input. By updating the parking software, the Port is taking another step toward streamlining operations and delivering reliable service for all who visit the waterfront. Updates and instructions on the new parking apps will be available on the Port’s website (www. portofhoodriver.com) and pay-to-park areas by Spring.
